New Orleans Roast is based in the coffee capital of the world. The history of coffee in Louisiana is rich and strong. Coffee first arrived in 1720 when French explorers introduced it to the city. Today, one third of all the coffee in North America lands first on the docks of the Crecent City. Savor a cup of coffee almost anywhere in North America and you'll taste New Orleans. One third of all the coffee on the continent arrives through our port.New Orleans Roast travels the globe to hand-select only the finest coffee beans. Plucked while still green, the fruits of the Rubiaceae tree are transported to our artisan roasting facility. Each blend is slowly roasted in small batches designed to unleash the essence of flavor that is New Orleans Roast coffee.

Phyllis Jordan opened the first PJ's outlet on Maple Street, in the University area of New Orleans, in September 1978. The first PJ's quickly became a local favorite for its fresh brewed coffee. Phyllis quickly decided that in order to make a truly great cup of coffee, one that met her approval as both a coffee buyer and a coffee lover, she needed to control the roasting process - a move that made all the difference, and inspiring us to be the prominent roaster we are today. |
